At Nerdearla 2020 (virtual edition), the Latin American premiere of the documentary \u201cGeneral Magic\u201d was held, directed by Sarah Kerruish and Matt Maude. The film tells the story of General Magic, the secretive startup that spun out of Apple in 1990 and created the first handheld personal communicator — the predecessor of the smartphone. Among its members were Tony Fadell (creator of the iPod), Andy Rubin (creator of Android), and Megan Smith (former US CTO). Marc Porat, founder of General Magic and the documentary's protagonist, participated in the event's closing on October 24.
