Andrew S. Tanenbaum received the BS degree from MIT and the PhD degree from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a professor of computer science at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His research interests focus on operating systems and computer security. He was awarded the USENIX Flame Award in 2008. He is a fellow of the IEEE and the ACM.
