Open source projects are more than code—they're communities that grow and evolve over time. But what happens when that growth gets out of sync? This session dives into the open source contribution funnel and explores what it takes to move users into contributor and maintainer roles in a healthy, sustainable way. We’ll look at what happens when your community is out of balance, and how to adapt your approach based on where your project is in its lifecycle. Whether you're launching a new initiative or scaling an established one, you’ll leave with practical tools for onboarding contributors, encouraging non-code participation, and building governance structures that support long-term engagement. Expect real-world examples, a few cautionary tales, and a clear framework to help your community—and your project—thrive.
